Basic introduction

Cherry is the Chinese name for Asilola cherry.  Native to the Caribbean region of the West Indies in tropical America, they are also called West Indian cherries.  It is suitable for growing in the tropical and subtropical regions with abundant rainfall, sufficient sunshine and suitable temperature. It is well known for its rich vitamin C, which is recognized as "natural VC" and "fruit of life".  

In 1809, when world trade was booming, sailors who lived on ships for a long time fell ill because they could not eat fresh vegetables, fruits and other foods, and some of them suffered from serious life-threatening sepsis.  Napoleon's government offered a huge prize of 12,000 francs to ask for a method of long-term food storage.  Many people engage in research activities in order to win awards.  

One of them, a Frenchman named Appel, who was in the business of preserves, had worked in pickles, distilleries, sweetshops and restaurants.  When he sold fruit pulp, wine and other foods, he found that some tended to go bad, while others did not.  After much research and practice, he finally found a good method: put the food into wide-mouthed glass bottles, plug the mouth of the bottle with a wooden cork, heat the bottle in a steamer, then plug the cork tightly and seal it with wax.  

Thus, the early cans appeared.  Apel was rewarded by the French government and warmly welcomed by seamen.  

The Chinese government's reward was also warmly welcomed by sailors.
